Start-Up Incubation and IPR Cell

Innovative Start-up and Intellectual Property play an important role in providing a competitive edge to any institution. To implement this thought process, Board of Management of the College formulated the Start-up Incubation and IPR (Intellectual Property Right) Cell in its meeting dated 3rd Sept 2013. Start-up Incubation and IPR (Intellectual Property Right) Cell coordinates and leverages the synergies in various levels of excellence driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the College. The Cell promotes entrepreneurship skills of students and alumni by mentoring, nurturing and facilitating the start-ups throughout their life cycle. The Cell is also committed to develop, shape, guide and protect the creative ideas, innovations and discoveries of its faculties, research students, alumni and common people who approach the Cell to obtain IP right through IPR protection and subsequent transfer of those ideas to use through extension services, training and commercial application. At the core of the initiative is the effort to build an ecosystem in which innovative start-ups and research can excel without any barriers. It is envisaged that students will pursue challenging, path breaking and innovative solutions to problems.

Objectives of the Cell

  1. To promote the start-ups in the College premises.
  2. To guide the students for start-ups throughout their life cycle.
  3. To assist financially, provide knowledge resources and support for growing the start-up.
  4. To appreciate the ideas and efforts of students.
  5. To inculcate research attitude and promote research documentation.
  6. To guide researchers to prepare patent documents and its filling process.

Functions of the Cell

  1. To accept proposals from the student entrepreneurs recommended by teacher mentor for start-up.
  2. To approve the proposal for start-up by granting necessary resources.
  3. To consider the requirement of student entrepreneurs for expert guidance.
  4. To preserve the records of start-ups incubated in the College.
  5. To organize guest lectures, expert’s talks for start-ups and patents.
  6. To organize fares and exhibitions to exhibit the start-ups incubated in the College.
  7. To felicitate student entrepreneurs and researchers.
  8. To support researchers to prepare patent documentation and filling of patents.
